Empowering Young People

  • A BLP Government paying the tuition fees for Barbadians to attend The University of the West Indies, from September 2018.
  • Creating a National “First Job” Programme for youth between 16- 25 years old to gain a Government subsidised placement at a business in their field of interest.
  • Developing a National Apprenticeship Programme.
  • Convening an emergency session of professionals dealing with the welfare of children to agree on an immediate plan of action to end the current epidemic of violence in schools.
  • Addressing violence and bullying among school children by appointing more guidance counsellors and social workers. Starting anger management and conflict resolution classes in schools by September 2018.
  • Ensuring a reliable and timely school bus service. From September 2018, placing safety officers on buses and at places where students and young people congregate in large numbers.
